Mark Not Surprised By National's Defence Flip Flop
New Zealand First Defence spokesperson Ron Mark is disappointed but not surprised by the National Party’s decision to
renege on its promise to re-instate the air combat wing of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.
His comments follow an admission of the policy back down by National Party Defence spokesperson John Carter on last
nights Close Up programme.
“This further confirms that neither Labour or National can be trusted to properly manage our Defence force,” said Mr
Mark.
“It was National who produced plans for a Defence Force real estate review and the sell off of Defence property and
assets, and Labour carried it out. It was also National who planned the purchase of the LAV’s, and Labour carried it
out.
“This latest National Party flip flop on Defence is further evidence that there really is no difference between Labour
and National, and that your only choice for change in Defence matters is New Zealand First,” concluded Mr Mark.
