PM’s Silence On Terrorist Groups Not Good Enough - Peters
New Zealand First Leader Rt Hon Winston Peters has said the Prime Minister’s continued silence on the subject of
terrorist groups operating in New Zealand is not good enough given that the only person qualified to speak with
authority on this subject, Dr Rohan Gunaratna, has backed New Zealand First’s claims.
“Dr Gunaratna, head of the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research, and a world-renowned
al-Qaeda expert, has claimed that 10 groups linked to international Islamic terror networks are operating out of New
Zealand cities and that there are many people with sympathetic views to Islamic extremist groups currently living in New
Zealand,” said Mr Peters.
“It appears that the Prime Minister’s obsession in promoting so-called diversity has provided an avenue for Islamic
extremists to permeate New Zealand’s mainly moderate Muslim community.
“The Prime Minister on July 10 spoke on Islamic radio without realising that there was anti western rhetoric broadcast
on either side of her speaking slot. You would think the head of the Security Intelligence Service would know better
than that.
“New Zealand is being increasingly infiltrated with anti-western rhetoric, and this includes Mirchee Television Network
Limited New Zealand which has already advertised on its website that it will be bringing, Al Jazera, widely recognised
as a front for Al Qaeda, into New Zealand shortly.
“While other parties may not take New Zealand’s national security seriously, New Zealand First is not willing to
jeopardise the nation’s safety,” concluded Mr Peters.
