Labour has cut and run
Having failed miserably in the debating chamber Helen Clark has decided to cut her losses and try her luck in the real
world, says National's Deputy Leader Gerry Brownlee.
"Yesterday, as she announced the date for the general election, Helen Clark announced that Parliament would adjourn on
11 August, but after one bad question time she has decided to cut and run."
The House is now scheduled to rise on August 4.
"Labour was embarrassed during Parliamentary Question time over phenomenal levels of government waste, an education
bureaucracy in tatters and claims that the Weathertight Homes Resolution Service has funded lavish theme parties for its
staff while leaky homes keep leaking," says Mr Brownlee.
"There are many reasons for Helen Clark to fear the coming election, but if she thinks she can minimise the
embarrassment by getting her team out of Wellington she is very much mistaken."
