ACT Leader Rodney Hide today welcomed Prime Minister Helen Clark putting the country out of its misery by confirming 17 September as the election day.
"The key for people to get the government they want is to understand MMP.
"That means giving their Party Vote to ACT to prevent Winston Peters stopping tax cuts.
"Otherwise, National will at best be left dependent on New Zealand First. That will mean a repeat of the chaos of 1996.
"Of course, Peters is more likely to go and prop up Helen Clark.
"The country wants a change - the only way to guarantee that change is to give their Party Vote to ACT," Mr Hide said.
