Peters Welcomes Green Light For Waitara Works
New Zealand First leader Rt Hon Winston Peters says he’s delighted that Anzco’s new export meat plant in Waitara has finally been given the go ahead.
Mr Peters called on the Government last month to take action over the Court of Appeal case preventing the building of the new plant, saying that the dispute had sullied New Zealand’s international reputation and undermined the credibility of our commercial law.
“This is a very positive outcome for Waitara. The delay in settlement has prevented export production and employment in Waitara, and has been incredibly frustrating for those involved in the settlement process.
“Now, finally local workers will be given the chance to gain employment and experience and the region will be able to benefit from the huge commercial gains this processing plant stands to make,” concluded Mr Peters.
