Reappointment to Historic Places Trust Board
Associate Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage Judith Tizard today announced the reappointment of Dame Anne Salmond as Chair of the New Zealand Historic Places Trust Board for a further three-year term.
"I am delighted that Dame Anne has agreed to continue as Chair of the Historic Places Trust (HPT) Board. Dame Anne has been a strong Chair of the Board through a period of change and I am confident that HPT will continue to be well served through her reappointment," Judith Tizard said.
Background information
Dame Anne Salmond is a well-known and productive writer on Mâori history and early Mâori-European contacts.
Recognised as one of New Zealand’s most important historical authorities on biculturalism, Dame Anne’s community interests include cross-cultural issues in New Zealand society; all aspects of Mâori-Pakeha relations, including participation in a number of Waitangi Tribunal claims; the place of women in New Zealand society; community planning; and as a professional teacher and lecturer, the role of education in New Zealand society. Dame Anne has been a member of the New Zealand Historic Places Trust Board since December 2000.
