Set the Date Prime Minister - The Country is Waiting
Helen Clark should front up to the people of New Zealand as any responsible leader would and set the election date, says Rt Hon Winston Peters.
“Her silly game of smoke and mirrors over the election date has already cost Labour big time in the polls and the situation will only get worse for them if she keeps playing games with New Zealanders.
“This has been her modus operandi all year – keep the public guessing and hope they make a mistake.
“Well it is the government that has made an endless array of blunders and it is clear this childish agenda has failed. The Prime Minister must give New Zealanders some certainty,” said Mr Peters.
“Holding the country to ransom like this is undignified and a cheap political ploy – one which the public has grown tired of very quickly.
“The people of New Zealand are awake to your game Prime Minister – but you don’t have enough time to get yourself out of this mess. So be smart and put everybody, including your own caucus, out of their misery by setting the date.
“You might just save your last shred of dignity that way,” concluded Mr Peters.
