Kia Kaha Tatou
Minister of Mâori Affairs, Parekura Horomia sends his congratulations to Michael Campbell and Norm Hewitt.
"Michael and Norm are both great role models for our people" he said. "Following hard on the heels of the Mâori All Blacks win against the Lions, this has been a wonderful few days for Mâori who are competing at the very highest level of this nation's sporting and achievement prowess.
"No other New Zealander has achieved what Michael has by winning the US Open, and he is only the sixth non American to do so in 105 years. "I was particularly pleased to see him acknowledge his Titahi Bay Club and whanau in front of a world audience.
"Kia kaha tatou."
