Peters Calls For Radical Reform To Address Race Relations Failures
Rt Hon Winston Peters has promised to end the insidious pursuit of race-based special treatment in the delivery of
government services.
Mr Peters will be releasing New Zealand First’s policy on the Treaty of Waitangi in Te Awamutu next Tuesday, which will
contain several radical changes within the public service.
“The time has arrived in New Zealand’s development as a nation for the insipid practice of token gestures and separatist
policies to end,” said Mr Peters.
“Spurious Treaty principles have failed both Maori and non-Maori alike and have become an expensive experiment which
this country cannot afford financially or socially any longer.
“The new policy will include a review of the role of Te Puni Kokiri (the Ministry of Maori Affairs), the removal of
positions within the public service based on race, and an end to expensive Treaty and Treaty related courses which have
no relevance to the job.
“Why are we spending millions of dollars teaching public servants to say ‘kia ora’ and ‘no’ when a simple ‘hello’ and
‘yes’ will suffice?
“Someone has to make a stand over the politically correct infestation within our public service. That party will be New
Zealand First,” concluded Mr Peters.
