Dunne at the centre of things
United Future leader, Peter Dunne, tonight (Eds: 7.30pm) launched his latest book 'At the Centre of Things' prior to his party's two-day conference at the Alexandra Park raceway in Auckland.
The 177-page book, published by Dunmore Press, details the turbulent times of the past six years in New Zealand political life and provides a fascinating insight into the behind the scenes manoeuvring of the first years of MMP government.
'At the Centre of Things' continues the tale begun by Mr Dunne in his first book 'Home is Where my Heart is' as he relates how he began as a Labour MP in 1984 and moved away from the extremes and into the centre of political life, culminating in the formation of the United Future party and its historic supply and confidence agreement with the current Labour-led Government, an arrangement that has seen New Zealand with its first stable MMP government since 1996.
