WTO Ambassador standing for National
National Party President Judy Kirk has announced that Tim Groser, New Zealand’s Ambassador to the World Trade Organisation, will be standing for the National Party at the upcoming General Election.
Mr Groser is New Zealand’s leading trade diplomat, and one of the world’s leading experts on international trade. He currently Chairs the Agriculture Negotiations for the WTO, and was New Zealand’s chief negotiator in the GATT Uruguay round.
Mrs Kirk says she is absolutely thrilled to have somebody of Mr Groser’s calibre joining the National Party team.
The National Party Board has nominated Mr Groser to fill one of its ‘up to five’ list-only nominations allowed under the Party’s constitution.
“We are very pleased with Tim’s nomination. We have a very strong team of candidates, and Tim will be an ideal addition to that list.”
Mr Groser will be ranked in the Party’s list alongside all the other candidates at the end of the month.
