National should change name to National Debt Party
The most irresponsible Opposition in thirty years is turning this year's election into a watershed year for the future of New Zealand, says Progressive MP Matt Robson.
Don Brash today admitted he wants to significantly increase central government borrowings in order to deliver debt-financed tax cuts for all voters before Christmas.
"Unable to think of any positive strategy to get elected, National is instead reverting to the debt-financed, fantasy-world of Think Big promises which worked for National politically in the 1970s at the cost of New Zealanders' living standards and for which all Kiwis are still paying off the interest," Matt Robson said.
"National's desire to start dramatically increasing government debt is reckless. It is anti-New Zealand. National should change its name to the National Debt Party," the Progressive MP said.
"The true cost of their Visa Card Manifesto would be higher student fees, higher primary health costs, higher unemployment and lower living standards for most New Zealanders," Matt Robson said.
