Funding boost welcomed - Greens
A $4.4 million funding boost for reintegration of former inmates into the community is welcome news, Green Party Justice Spokesman Nandor Tanczos says.
The funding, which will be paid over four years, indicates the government is beginning to address how to stop reoffending rather than just focussing on locking more people up, Nandor says.
Difficulties in fitting back into the community after being released from prison is one of the major factors in people returning to crime.
It is pleasing to see the Government acknowledge this and I hope this continues to be a high priority for it.
