Crass attempt to politicise NZ music month
National Party MP Katherine Rich is accusing Judith Tizard of a “crass attempt to politicise New Zealand Music Month.”
She is referring to a promotional poster distributed by Judith Tizard’s office to publicise a free concert by Steriogram
today on the Parliamentary forecourt.
The last line of the poster reads: ‘A free concert, brought to you by New Zealand Music Month, which is brought to you
by the Labour-led government, because Labour loves NZ music’.
“For the record, the celebration of New Zealand music was first organised by NZ On Air, APRA, the Radio Broadcasters’
Association and the Recording Industry Association in 1997.
“This party political correspondence from a minister’s office is unacceptable.
“New Zealand music month should be about all Kiwis celebrating our great home-grown music. It is not, as Judith Tizard
would like to believe, a Labour Party propaganda exercise,” says Mrs Rich.
