Up Your Game Minister!
New Zealand First is appalled at the comments made yesterday by Communications Minster David Cunliffe at the International Data Corp conference, where he told private sector participants to “up your game”.
“The Government’s record with regard to broadband and Probe has shown a consistent non-performance over the last three years,” said Associate Education spokesperson Jim Peters.
“The Probe project, which was meant to give national broadband coverage to schools, has not yet happened. There are unsigned regional contracts and no operational plans for the development of resources and personnel, despite the pious claims by the Minister of Education to the contrary.
“The Government has not met the targets of its own IT development plans, has not met the targets of its IT plans for schools, and has left the country lagging behind the rest of the developed world.
“When Mr Cunliffe said you need to up your game, he should have been looking in a very large mirror,” said Mr Peters.
