National backs small business
A National-led Government will reduce the cost of doing business, says National's spokesman for small business, Lindsay Tisch.
This week more than 70,000 small and medium-sized businesses around the country will receive pamphlets and a personal letter from National Party Leader Don Brash outlining National's plan to reduce taxes and other government-imposed costs, and loosen the burden of bureaucratic red tape on businesses.
"Small and medium-size businesses are the driving force of the economy, but they are being stifled by red tape and over-regulation," says Mr Tisch.
"Labour doesn't understand what it is doing to small businesses, National does.
"For the good of this country we need a bureaucratic bonfire to do away with the excessive red tape that is crippling businesses and cutting profits," says Mr Tisch.
National will:
- Substantially amend the Resource Management Act
- Cut company tax to 30 percent
- Cut personal tax to reward effort
- Let employers choose their own workplace insurer
- Introduce an optional 90-day trial period for new employees
- Encourage a flexible labour market through pro-growth employment law
- Investigate the establishment of a 'Red Tape Commission'
"National will work with businesses to make the necessary changes to make doing business in this country a whole lot easier," says Mr Tisch.
