ACT Leader Rodney Hide said today that Jim Anderton’s Job Machine should be scrapped in favour of across-the-board tax cuts.
“Trade and Enterprise’s latest advice to business is to leave New Zealand! That might be good advice given how tough Labour has made it for business in New Zealand but it’s hardly advice that the taxpayer should be paying for,” Mr Hide said.
“Trade and Enterprise told successful Levin outdoor clothing company Swazi Apparel it would be financially better off moving its manufacturing overseas. That’s how dopey Jim Anderton’s Jobs Machine is. It should be scrapped.
“The way to get business fired-up in New Zealand is tax cuts and a bonfire of red tape.
“The top personal and company rate of tax should be dropped to 25 cents in the dollar. The bottom rate of 15 cents should be extended to $38,000. That would boost business and give every worker a tax cut.
“That would do more for business than a gaggle of taxpayer-funded bureaucrats could ever achieve,” Mr Hide said.
