Tributes for Alicia Ramos
National Party MP Georgina te Heuheu is paying tribute to the former Philippines Ambassador to New Zealand, Alicia Ramos, who was murdered in Manila on Sunday.
“I met and came know Alicia Ramos, during the Apex Forum 1999, and in my role as Minster of Women’s Affairs I worked with her on many occasions.
“She was a dignified woman and a close personal friend,” says Mrs te Heuheu.
“Her tenure as Ambassador in New Zealand was characterised by strong leadership and a dedication to fostering the New Zealand/Philippines relationship.
“News of her death is very upsetting. This outcome is a great tragedy for such a warm and friendly person, determined to use her diplomatic skills to forge better relationships between our countries. Her passing is a great loss and she will be sadly missed,” says Mrs te Heuheu.
