Extravagant Families Commission spending blatant electioneering
Labour’s extravagant spending on a Families Commission campaign is a waste of valuable taxpayer dollars and blatant electioneering, says National’s Families spokeswoman, Judith Collins.
Ms Collins has received answers to written Parliamentary questions showing Labour is spending more than $670,000 in advertising and promotion of the Families Commission’s ‘What makes your family tick’campaign.
About $360,000 will be spent on a television campaign, more than $155,000 on radio, and $125,000 on print advertising.
A further $30,000 has been allocated to other promotional materials and the launch of the campaign.
“Such extravagant spending in an election year must be regarded as nothing more than Labour Party electioneering,” says Ms Collins.
“The money spent on this campaign should be coming straight out of Labour’s broadcasting funding allocation.
“The Commission might have been United Future’s idea, but Labour has certainly milked it for all it’s worth.
“This is going to be an interesting election campaign when the Labour Party has already spent more than half its election broadcasting budget,” says Ms Collins.
