Nandor to host 'Youth and Police' forum in Orewa
Green Party Justice and Youth Issues Spokesperson Nandor Tanczos will be hosting a public forum on 'Young People and the Police' at Orewa next week.
Key community groups, police and local experts have been invited to attend and contribute, so it promises to be an informative and interesting discussion. The evening has been organised by the Rodney Greens.
The state of relations between youth and the Police was highlighted recently when a senior South Auckland police officer was found guilty of assaulting a 17-year-old. Other cases in Whangarei and Porirua demonstrate that this was not an isolated event.
These incidents raise a number of questions: What is the relationship between young people and the law? How do we protect young people from abuses of their rights? How do we address problems of youth crime?
What: 'Young People and the Police' forum with Nandor Tanczos
When: 7.30 pm, Thursday, 21 April
Where: Orewa Community Hall, cnr Hibiscus Coast Highway & Florence Ave.
