PM humiliated over John Tamihere affair
National Party Leader Don Brash says the Prime Minister has shown she is prepared to suffer any humiliation to keep her grip on the Labour caucus.
“Helen Clark and her colleagues have shown the public of New Zealand that Labour is indeed a party that is deeply and philosophically divided.
“Obviously Mr Tamihere has more support in the Labour caucus than the Prime Minister feels comfortable with, leading to the backdown today.
“But by accepting Mr Tamihere’s apology, Helen Clark has shown there is no humiliation she will not suffer in order to maintain the charade of unity.
“When governments abandon all their principles, it is clearly time for change,” says Dr Brash.
