Flu Vaccine doesn't contain thiomersal
The Green Party is pleased to hear that this year’s flu vaccine does not contain thiomersal, a mercury-based preservative.
Green Health Spokesperson Sue Kedgley said Health Minister Annette King had confirmed last year that there were no flu vaccinations available in New Zealand which did not contain thiomersal.
“It is great news that Sanofi Pasteur is now supplying New Zealand with one that does not contain this substance,” Ms Kedgley said.
The American Food and Drug Administration has ordered that vaccines be reformulated to remove thiomersal.
