Meeting with Audit Office confirmed suspicions

ACT MP Ken Shirley said his meeting with senior Audit Office officials in his parliamentary office this afternoon
confirmed his worst suspicions.
"They indicated that it will take `several months' until the Audit Office could report back.
"Labour's pointing to these guys as the ones who will come up with answers. In reality, the Audit Office has very
limited powers and it's going to take several months to deliver very little.
"Labour is refusing to get on top of what's really happening at Te Wananga O Aotearoa. They've got their heads in the
sand over the serious allegations flooding in about a culture of extreme extravagance, governance issues, and the
complete lack accountability for a quarter of a billion dollars of taxpayers' money.
"Labour is seemingly keen to kick this issue for touch until after the general election."
ACT believes a High Court judge should be appointed to conduct a judicial inquiry and report back in a relatively short
timeframe.
Visiting Mr Shirley from the Audit Office today were Assistant Auditor-General Wendy Venter, Senior Manager Pania Gray,
and Solicitor Edrick Child.
