Minister makes appointments to Counties Manukau and Waikato DHBs
Health Minister Annette King has announced the names of appointees to the remaining vacancies on Counties Manukau and Waikato District Health Boards.
Seven members of each board were elected in October 2004, and Ms King, who can appoint up to four extra members to each board, announced most of her appointments in time for the new members to take office alongside their elected counterparts on 6 December. A few vacancies remained, including two each at Counties Manukau and Waikato.
Ms King said that she had decided to reappoint Ms Airini Tukerangi to the board of Counties Manukau DHB, where she will be joined by new member Ms Miria Andrews. The new appointees at Waikato DHB are Mr Gordon Blake, the former mayor of South Waikato District Council, and Ms Michelle Nathan.
Ms King said that where vacancies still remain to be filled, consultation, assessments and interviews were continuing, and appointments would be announced in the next couple of months.
