Alexander: Do-nothing Government does nothing again
The Government's rejection of a Police Association call for a commission of inquiry into organised crime is consistent
with its "do nothing attitude" towards gangs, United Future law and order spokesman Marc Alexander said today.
"Organised crime has already taken a foothold in New Zealand and this Government is in reality just standing by and
watching.
"Occasionally it talks the talk, but it never walks the walk," Mr Alexander, who last week unveiled his Criminal Assets
Confiscation Bill, which would hold gangs, the main source of drugs in New Zealand, to account for their earnings.
"The public are still waiting for the Government to actually do something - so rejecting a commission of inquiry into
organised crime is utterly consistent with a government sitting on its hands."
