Time for tax cuts and a new focus on welfare
“Employment figures out today confirm National’s view that there has never been a better time for the Government to offer tax relief to hardworking New Zealanders,” says National Party Finance spokesman John Key.
“With more people paying taxes and contributing to Labour’s surplus, National says it is time to give something back to all working Kiwis, not just those being singled out for more state assistance under the Working for Families package.
“The current state of the labour market also provides a great opportunity for Labour to get serious about shifting some of New Zealand’s 300,000 beneficiaries off welfare and into work.
“That’s 15% of our labour force surviving on welfare. Labour’s happy to leave them there, National won’t,” says Mr Key.
