Alexander praises Warehouse's bag rebate policy
The Warehouse chain deserves a huge round of applause for not only bringing in reusable calico bags but for giving shoppers a cash incentive to use them, United Future's Marc Alexander said today.
"In a bold and imaginative initiative aimed at reducing plastic bag pollution, The Warehouse stores are selling cheap reusable calico bags. The creative part is they give you a 20 cent refund on your purchases if you use them
"I would challenge other retailers nationwide to adopt a similar practice.
"This is the kind of responsible, forward-thinking initiative that deserves high praise from all who care about our environment, care about wasting resources and value businesses being responsible corporate and environmental citizens," Mr Alexander said.
"Anything that helps lower mountains of trash is a very good thing."
