Time For Action On Local Govt Funding
Finance Minister Dr Michael Cullen's blather to Federated Farmers, about the need to look at local government funding, is the last thing we need, ACT New Zealand local Government Spokesman Ken Shirley said today.
"For decades we have had reviews into the need to reform local body funding - particularly the burden on rural property owners.
"What is called for now is not more committees, commissions or reports. The work has already been done. What is required now is Government action," Mr Shirley said.
