Minister's disrespect to WWII Vet shameful
Minister of Health, Annette King, needs to apologise for her flippant attitude to World War II veteran Mr John Power after she today referred to him as 'Mr John Smith or whatever his name is', says National's Health spokeswoman, Judith Collins.
Mr Power has been waiting four years for a knee replacement operation.
Ms Collins says Mr Power has been given a date for an operation later this month, but until it happens, given all the false hope he has been given over the past four years, no one is getting excited.
"Mr Power has served his country, he has contributed to New Zealand all his life and paid his own way. Today, the Minister refused to treat him with the respect he deserves."
