Australia Takes Defence Seriously
Friday 27 Aug 2004
Rodney Hide - Press Releases - Defence
ACT New Zealand Leader Rodney Hide today said that Australia's purchase of long-range missiles showed it was taking its defence seriously.
"That contrasts with New Zealand, where Prime Minister Helen Clark scrapped our air combat wing because she declared us to be living in a benign strategic environment.
"Australia clearly disagrees with her.
"We should be siding with the Australians - it is a far better policy to be prepared, than sorry," Mr Hide said.
