Prime Minister's Head In The Clouds
Prime Minister Helen Clark's suggestion that she might need a private plane - instead if apologising for mis-using
traffic law privileges - shows that she has delusions of grandeur, ACT New Zealand Justice Spokesman Stephen Franks said
today.
"Our first warnings came years ago, when she began talking about herself in the third person," Mr Franks said.
"Miss Clark is the leader of a small peaceful country with excellent internal transport and a traditional aversion to
status privileges.
"Experienced business investors know that aeroplane yearning is a good early warning sign of a bust company. When the
chief executive starts to think they're so valuable as to need a private plane, it's time to get out.
"I could accept a plane as an answer to security concerns. But if our leaders no longer feel safe among ordinary
people, is it because they've let all the nutters and criminals out? When leaders don't feel safe among the people, we
have a more serious problem than simply being late to the rugby," Mr Franks said.
