Backward Greens Must Move Forward
Tuesday 20 Jul 2004
Gerry Eckhoff - Press Releases - Economy
ACT New Zealand Rural Affairs Spokesman Gerry Eckhoff today urged the Green Party to change its backward and archaic attitude and cast aside its xenophobic opposition towards foreign investment in New Zealand.
"It's no secret that such investment stimulates economic growth and creates more jobs. Overseas investment in our country should not only be welcomed, it must be encouraged.
"As a country, New Zealand must not pander to extreme elements in society - like the Greens - who oppose foreign investment under any guise. To do so would make us the laughing stock of the world.
"The reality is that we are part of the global economy - whether the populist, unprincipled Greens like it or not. While the Green Party strives to turn us into another North Korea, ACT understands that foreign investment makes for a freer more prosperous New Zealand," Mr Eckhoff said.
