Dunne puts all parties on notice - put families first
Families will never again be a political afterthought in New Zealand, United Future leader Peter Dunne said at the
Families Commission launch this evening.
"Never again! And any party that ever downgrades or abolishes the Families Commission would be a party with no regard to
the best interests of New Zealand families - and they will pay a price for that, as well they should.
"At some point, the politicking needs to be put quietly aside and the genuine good of families and of the community
needs to be given its rightful place," he said.
"In 150 years of Parliament in this country, this is the most positive recognition that has been bestowed on New Zealand
families.
"The Families Commission will be to families as Treasury is to the economy - integral, putting them first, driving their
needs and creating an environment where they can prosper.
"I am very, very proud that United Future has changed the political landscape by putting families to the forefront of
the way we plan and shape the New Zealand of the future," he said.
