National Takes Soft Option On RMA
ACT New Zealand Rural Affairs Spokesman Gerry Eckhoff today accused the National Party of abandoning any pretence of
major changes to the Resource Management Act.
"By merely claiming that it is prepared to `recognise' private property rights, the National Party - which was founded
on private property rights - has indicated that the most it is prepared to do with the RMA is give it a gentle tweak.
"The Party's proposal, to establish an environmental protection authority setting national standards, makes even
Jeanette Fitzsimons look less Green - in fact, the Greens are probably envious that they did not come up with the idea
first.
"It appears that only ACT New Zealand will ensure that private property rights are fully restored after years of abuse
by successive governments," Mr Eckhoff said.
