No ‘Hokey Tokey’ Politics With New Zealand First
New Zealand First transport spokesperson Peter Brown says New Zealand First is not going to play “hokey tokey” with transport infrastructure funding and will ensure the Tauranga harbour bridge problem is properly and fairly addressed.
“The Tauranga harbour bridge should be deemed a state highway and as such be funded from the National Land Transport Fund. That’s our view, that’s what the people of Tauranga want and that is what they have paid for already, several times over.
“When we are back after the next election, that is exactly what will happen – no ifs, no buts, no maybes, no backroom deals.
“Tauranga needs a second bridge. It serves the largest export port in the country and Tauranga people are entitled to certainty - not tolls.
“Under New Zealand First, they will get their bridge, paid for from the Transport fund. Hang on, help is on the way,” concluded Peter Brown.
