Govt “Bulldozing” Care Of Children Bill
This Government’s social agenda of interfering in the personal lives of individuals is again highlighted by its bulldozing of the Care of Children Bill through the Justice and Electoral select committee with the support of only the Greens, said New Zealand First Justice spokesman Dail Jones.
Mr Jones, a lawyer, has had more than 40 years experience in various aspects of Family Law. “These parties’ social agendas know no bounds. How much more social legislation is this Parliament to endure at the hands of the Greens and the Labour Party?
“The Bill fails to resolve the major problem experienced by parties involved in defended cases relating to childcare, namely the ease with which interim custody orders are made in favour of one party without the other party being heard.
“I predict there will be changes to the Bill even before the third reading stage. Clauses 4 and 4A are an absolute shambles,” said Mr Jones.
