Leadership Selection Process
Wednesday 28 Apr 2004 Catherine Judd
ACT New Zealand President Catherine Judd has today sent an email to all members and supporters outlining some aspects
of the leadership selection process that the ACT Party is undertaking.
"While not waiving its right to select the next leader, and make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees - as
provided in the Constitution - the ACT caucus has asked the Party membership to be involved," Ms Judd said.
"Rule 12.1 of the Constitution and Rules of ACT New Zealand governs the selection of a new leader (see
www.act.org.nz/leadership (http://www.act.org.nz/leadership) ). ACT will be holding an indicative `primary' to help
caucus determine the next leader.
"While currently developing the details of the process and a timetable, the Board of Trustees has resolved to open
nominations for the leadership primary effective from 9am Wednesday 28 April 2004, until 5pm Wednesday 5 May 2004.
"Anyone wishing to be considered in the Party's primary process needs to be nominated and seconded. A form to be
completed and returned to the Party Secretary can be downloaded at
www.act.org.nz/action/candidates/leadership/nomination.pdf
(http://www.act.org.nz/action/candidates/leadership/nomination.pdf)
"It is the Party that is undertaking the `primary' process, so costs will be met by the Party. It will not involve the
use of taxpayers' money," said Ms Judd.
