Hikoi Urged To Bus Over Seabed
New Zealand First has called on the Government to tell Police, Auckland and North Shore authorities to stop the
foreshore and seabed hïkoi causing traffic chaos on the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
Auckland-based List MP Dail Jones said today that it “defied belief” that the hikoi had been given police permission to
march over the Auckland Harbour Bridge and cause massive disruption to motorists.
“The traffic system in Auckland is already chaotic and it is hard to understand why the rights of this particular group
of stirrers should be given precedence over commuters going about their lawful business.
“This issue highlights everything that is wrong with this country and reveals how absurd decisions such, letting these
people walk on the bridge, cause deep resentment in the minds of ordinary people.
“My advice to the marchers is to forget about crossing the bridge on foot and find some other means of transport, such
as catching a bus.
“They could spend their time on the bus reading the foreshore and seabed legislation and gain a better understanding of
it because they really appear quite confused about the issue,” said Mr Jones.
