Dunne All Talk On Transmission Gully

Heather Roy Press Releases - Transport
United Future Leader Peter Dunne's claim that he could achieve more by cooperating with the Government has been shown to be nothing more than hot air, and he is yet to deliver for his constituents, ACT New Zealand Wellington-based MP Heather Roy said today.
"Transmission Gully is the issue and, having failed to arouse the support of even one of the Wellington region's six Labour MPs - four of them Cabinet Ministers - Mr Dunne is now trying to enlist the support of the region's mayors," Mrs Roy said.
"Wellington City has been completely cut off twice in the past six months - this is just not acceptable for the nation's capital. Yet, after years of supposed campaigning for Transmission Gully, Mr Dunne has achieved nothing to ease Wellington's transport woes.
"State Highways are a national - not local body - issue. Mr Dunne's entreaties to involve local body politicians show his failure with Labour - he clearly hasn't noticed that the region's mayors have been supportive of Transmission Gully, but are in no position to pay for it.
"In Peter Dunne, Wellington effectively has another Labour backbencher who has absolutely no influence with the Government. Meanwhile, Transmission Gully costs continue to escalate, with little hope in sight for proper roading into the capital," Mrs Roy said.
