Stop Stalling On Anti-Spam Measures
New Zealand First is calling on the government to act promptly on measures to address the growing spam plague.
“With our e-mail systems becoming increasingly clogged with unsolicited, obscene and inappropriate spam, the government
must follow the example of other developed nations and legislate against this scourge,” said internal affairs
spokesperson Brent Catchpole.
“Australia has passed anti-spam legislation which says people should not receive unsolicited commercial e-mails unless
they have indicated they want such communications, this comes into effect on 10 April.
“The US and a growing number of Asian and European countries are also legislating to this effect. We risk being left
behind in the international fight against this burgeoning problem.
“We are sick of finding suggestive and pornographic links on our computers and having our children exposed to this. The
government must stop talking about taking steps to address this problem and take some real action,” said Mr Catchpole.
