Leaky homes still leaking
Latest figures from the Weathertight Homes Resolution Service show that the leaky homes fiasco is far from over, says National's Housing Spokesman David Carter.
"With the passing of the Weathertight Homes Resolution Services Act, the Labour Government promised a 'speedy, flexible and cost effective' process.
"But figures released yesterday show that this is far from correct with only 67 cases being resolved to date and another 1,784 desperate home owners patiently waiting for resolution.
"This legislation was nothing but spin, with the Government claiming it had solutions when clearly it didn't.
"The only effect the legislation has had is to raise the expectations of home-owners, only to dash them again as the prospect of a solution looks increasingly unlikely as time passes.
"The Government's slow and bureaucratic response is typical. For leaky homeowners, uncertainty remains simply because the media storm surrounding the situation has passed.
"The Labour Government is all talk and no action".
