Dunne slates ‘gutless’ Transit NZ
United Future leader and Ohariu-Belmont MP, Peter Dunne, today slammed the board and officials of Transit New Zealand for their gutlessness in refusing to front up for a debate on progress, or the lack of it, on the Transmission Gully project.
“A debate had been arranged by Newstalk ZB in Wellington for today, but early this morning, I was told that no-one from Transit was available to talk. The official ridiculous reason given was that Transit is till engaged in doing work on the project and therefore couldn’t comment,” he said.
“The real reason is that Transit doesn’t want to debate the Gully project with politicians in general - and me in particular.
“Transit’s unwillingness to explain to the people of Wellington why it’s dilly-dallying is resulting in frequent traffic and economic disruption to the region is disgraceful and simply demonstrates they’re not up to the job,” said Mr Dunne.
