Durie a welcome appointment to Law Commission
The appointment of Justice Eddie Durie to the Law Commission is welcomed by National, says Justice Spokesman Richard Worth.
"He replaces Patrick Keane who left the Law Commission on his appointment to the High Court.
"Justice Durie established his reputation primarily in respect of the scholarly and reasoned contribution he brought to the Waitangi Tribunal in its deliberations.
"It is about time that the Government started to take notice of the work of the Law Commission. Only about a third of the work of the Commission is ever translated into law and that represents a huge waste of resources.
"It is shameful that the quality work of the Commission is often ignored," said Mr Worth.
