UF calls for extension of school review moratorium
United Future today called for the recently-announced five-year moratorium on school reviews to be extended to all schools in New Zealand, including those currently under review.
United Future leader Peter Dunne and education spokesman Bernie Ogilvy said today the moratorium should be extended “in the interests of fairness and to clear the decks surrounding the whole process as it is clearly causing alarm and anguish among parents and many communities across the country.”
“We note the government is attempting to deal with some of this alarm through a mediation process, but we believe it would be better for all concerned to be treated the same and to allow time for more in-depth community consultation and input,” they said.
