Alexander: A padded cell for Nandor, please!
The fact that Green MP Nandor Tanczos appears to see a 'golden vulture' looming large over New Zealand's correction
systems is the point at which the ideological meets the delusional, United Future's Marc Alexander said today.
Responding to "what would have to be the most bizarre rant I have seen in some considerable time", Mr Alexander said he
was left utterly baffled as to how any MP could in one breath offer fulsome praise of the undisputed success that is the
privately run Auckland Central Remand Prison, and in the next flow into the "most absurd conspiracy theory about
international power plays, sadism, greed and sexual abuse".
"He appears to have forgotten the unfortunate incident with a goat!" Mr Alexander said.
Mr Tanczos unleashed a frenzied attack on multinational security services provider Wackenhut Corporation, the parent
company of Australasian Correctional Management, which runs the remand prison.
"I only hope his press release gets the widest possible coverage. Voters deserve to see what passes for policy-setting
in the Green Party," Mr Alexander, United Future's law and order spokesman, said.
"I agree with Nandor. The prison is well run. But let Wackenhut remain what it has always been in the New Zealand
context - the Greens'caucus room."
Ends.
