Labour's Attacks On Dr Brash Hysterical
ACT New Zealand Leader Richard Prebble today said that the Labour Government's personal attacks on Dr Don Brash were now verging on the hysterical.
"The latest claim by Labour MP Clayton Cosgrove, to liken Dr Brash to Pauline Hanson, is absurd - Ms Hanson is a racist. She made absurd claims, suggesting Aborigines had practised cannibalism, and stating in a speech that that she thought giving Aborigines the vote was a mistake," Mr Prebble said.
"No one in the current debate over race-based laws in New Zealand has made those sorts of statements. Indeed, it is absurd to suggest that opposing racial preference is somehow racist.
"The Government's warning that Dr Brash's speech will spark fighting in the streets is even more irresponsible. Labour appears to be saying that if we don't support its policies then there will be race riots. It's just inciting Maori radicals to carry out the threats - totally irresponsible.
"The more Labour engages in personal attacks, and now reckless threats, the more the polls will swing in favour of the Centre-Right," Mr Prebble said.
