Wrong Again, Prime Minister
It seems that Prime Minister Helen Clark's crystal ball has let her down yet again, this time over the possibility of
US forces ever capturing Saddam Hussein, ACT New Zealand Deputy Leader Ken Shirley said today.
"Ms Clark needs a new crystal ball. This one has already let her down - first by telling her we live in a benign
strategic environment, and then convincing her to question whether the US would ever capture Hussein ( http://onenews.nzoom.com/onenews_detail/0,1227,179190-1-8,00.html)," Mr Shirley said.
"The Prime Minister has been proven wrong on both counts. Something is definitely on the fritz. This raises questions
about her ability to make other decisions for New Zealand in the international forum.
"We have already blown our chances of a place at the US/Australia free trade table, and we are nothing more than a
`friend' to the US, rather than an ally. We have had warnings that our obsolete nuclear policy is hindering our chances
of ever improving this relationship.
"The crystal ball has let us down too often. It is time the Prime Minister and her Labour colleagues opened their eyes
to the real world. I am calling on the Government to support my Private Members Bill to allow nuclear-propelled ship
visits - it is time to make decisions based on cold, hard fact," Mr Shirley said.
