Don Brash welcomes Maurice Williamson decision
National Party Leader Don Brash has welcomed the decision of the National Party Board to reinstate the membership of Pakuranga MP Maurice Williamson.
"The decision by the board enables the National Caucus to move forward to tackle the non-stop meddling and social engineering of the Labour Government," says Dr Brash.
"His suspension was the result of a proper and deliberate Board process that followed Mr Williamson's criticism of the Party at this year's annual Conference. That process had my support.
"However, Mr Williamson is a senior and seasoned Parliamentarian who has the potential to make a strong contribution both inside and outside the House.
"This decision will give him an opportunity to prove his abilities," Dr Brash says.
Mr Williamson will take over the Transport portfolio from Deputy Leader Gerry Brownlee.
