PRESS RELEASE
Brian Connell, MP For Rakaia
Spokesperson for Forestry
10 December 2003
Good work by the Building Industry Federation
"A wonderful idea!" was the reaction of Brian Connell, National's Forestry spokesperson to news that the Building Industry Federation was launching a campaign to increase consumer awareness regarding the use of treated timber."
"The industry should be congratulated for their initiative, but what a pity that it is necessary," he said.
"Along with the Government's legislative overreaction to the leaky homes debacle, the Greens have engaged in a scare campaign against a product with a proven safety record. They have caused unnecessarily damage to one of our biggest industries."
"Their allegations were proven to be baseless by the best scientific studies. Good on the Building Industry Federation for spreading awareness of a great product."
