Act leader admits ACT has no economic credibility
The Act Party’s admission that it has ‘never had economic credibility’ means NZ First and United Future should rule out
working with an Act-National government, Progressive leader Jim Anderton says.
The admission was reported in a NZ Herald story today about a paper written by Act leader Richard Prebble.
“It’s no surprise that the anti-business Act Party has no economic credibility. What is amazing is that they have
finally realised it.
“Richard Prebble’s admission that Act has no economic credibility is a damning vote of no confidence in his own Finance
spokesperson, Rodney Hide. He has basically admitted that Rodney has no credibility and declared a vote of no confidence
in his own failed policies of the past.
“The statement ‘Act has no economic credibility -- by Richard Prebble’ will make a great billboard.”
Jim Anderton said Act has no economic credibility because it wants to go back to the failed policies of the past.
“Act wants to lurch back to the days of asset fire sales, chronic under-funding of essential social services and
infrastructure.
“How amazing that Don Brash now wants National to do the same.
“Under the policies of Act and National last century, New Zealand’s standard of living slipped substantially behind
other developed countries.
“Both NZ First and United state they could work with a Don Brash-led National-Act government. On it’s own admission,
that government would have no economic credibility. They should rule out working with them in order to retain their own
credibility.”
